0. “The Simpsons” is an animated situation comedy. The Simpsons was a groundbreaking show from the start. Nearly all animated television shows and movies up to that time were targeted at children. They typically featured simplistic characters, formulaic plots, a laugh track, and were broadcasted during the day.
1. Matt Groening, born in 1954 is an American cartoonist, created the comic strip “Life in Hell” and the animated television series “The Simpsons”. Matt Groening was born in Portland, Oregon, and educated at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. In 1977, he moved to Los Angeles, California, with the intention of becoming a writer.
